LA or Bust

The film finally let out at about 9:45pm and guests headed over to the Hard Rock Cafe where the afterparty was being held. Hollywood Blvd was still barricaded so no fan could walk on the street. All the celebs’ cars were parkedthere for when they were ready to leave. Many of the stars just walked in without signing autographs. Zachary Levi signed for a few people as did Hayley Atwell. The section that I was standing in had the whole front row full of autograph hounds. Ugh! I can honestly see why alot of the stars didn’t come over to sign. A few stars left like Kat Dennings(who I found out on twitter had an emergency at home), Bella Thorne, and Cobie Smulders. Robert Downey Jr and his entourage walked in along with Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce. Tom HIddleston was the last celeb to walk into the afterparty after spending an hour inside the theater after the film ended. He didn’t stop to sign for anyone and just waved and walked inside only to come out 20 minutes later. I walked to the other side where he had went and saw that a mass amount of people were following him. Come to find out his car was parked in valet down in the parking garage. I didn’t follow the crowd down to the garage as I didn’t want Tom to think I was a nutter fan. Working in the business, one has to maintain a certain kind of reputation and I didn’t want it tainted by being labled as an overzealous fangirl. So at that point I had a migraine bigger than Texas and decided to head on home. As much as I would’ve loved to hang around to see Robert again, I was totally pooped out. lol So that was it….my grand adventure as a fan at the premiere of Iron Man 3. Would I do it again? Perhaps for Thor 2? I dunno. I think I much prefer to walk the red carpet and attend rather than be on the sidelines. Too much chaos, pushing and shoving, screaming fangirls. It does get to you after a while. lol So we’ll see what happens for Thor 2. 

At the end of the barricade I could see a bright red car making its way down to the red carpet amid cheers and screams of the fans. Robert Downey Jr had arrived in grand style. In the passenger seat was his lovely wife and constant companion, Susan looking lovely as ever in an orange dress.

While Robert parked his car, Jaime Alexanader had kept her word and came back to sign autographs for the fans. She went all the way down the barricade and signed for people. When she got to me, I told her she looked really lovely and that I followed her on twitter. She asked for my twitter handle and she said she’d keep an eye out for it. So sweet:-)

Now on to the epic meeting of Mr Downey Jr. What can I say about the guy? He was super cool and calm. He signed autographs most of the way from the street all the way down to where the barricades ended. When he got to me, I said hello and thank you for the autograph. And he smiled at me. Lovely guy. Cloud 9. lol

As Robert was finishing up Cobie Smulders came by my section and signed for fans.

After Robert and Cobie had left the area to head to the red carpet press, things slowed down a bit. At this point I was wondering if Tom Hiddleston had canceled cuz it was after 7pm already and he still hadn’t arrived. Then about 7:10pm I heard screams of “Tom! Tom!” and knew he had finally arrived. Tom headed over to the far section by the street where he arrived at to start signing autographs. He signed for everyone and took photos with a bunch of fans. Zachary Levi had made his way back to the barriers to sign a couple autographs for some fans and then headed back to the red carpet. I had heard that Tom and Zach’s paths crossed at the barriers and greeted each other. Awesomeness:-) When Tom reached my section, we were told that we couldn’t get a photo with him but I wasn’t really concerned with that as I had already had my photo with him before. As soon as he came by me, I just said hi and good to see you again to which he replied Hi! with a smile. I couldn’t really interact with him that much like I did at the MTV Movie Awards cuz he was in such a rush. Fans were asking him to sign things and pushing photos at him. It’s all good. I understood that he was in high demand and still remains the darling of the red carpet. :-)

Afterwards, I hung around for a few more moments, then headed to my car to drop off some stuff. I heard some screaming at about 7:30pm and come to find out it was Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa arriving. 

So after dropping off my stuff, I headed back over to the El Capitan, got something to eat, and then stood by the barriers snapping a few photos waiting for the afterparty which was being held at the Hard Rock Cafe.

So not long after William Sadler arrived Sir Ben Kingsley arrived with wife, Daniela Lavender on his arm. He breezed on by down the red carpet, stopping briefly for photos at the photo area and then heading on to the press area.

Arriving next in a gorgeous yellow sheath dress was Jaime Alexander and boyfriend, Peter Facinelli(who we all know from the Twilight series as Carlyle). Fans screamed and yelled for her to come over and so she promised to come back for autographs after she was finished with the press.

Don Cheadle was the next to show up. He did sign a few autographs but didn’t make it to my area.

After Don, Gwenyth Paltrow arrived wearing a funky looking dress. In person it looked really good on her and from the pro photos I’ve seen that alot of it was see-through. 

Next to arrive was Guy Pearce with his wife. He did sign for a few fans but quickly left to do press and photos.

As Guy was signing for fans, a fan favorite arrived, Zachary Levi looking really dapper in a blue suit. For those who don’t know who he is, Zach starred in the tv show Chuck and is also in Thor 2 as Fandral taking the place of Josh Dallas(who had to withdraw for his hit tv show Once Upon A Time).

Next up was Rebecca Hall who did want to sign autographs for the fans but her handlers refused to allow her to walk over across to the barriers. Their excuse was she couldn’t get over there. Whatever. lol Definitely not cool and bad PR on their part. 

Up next was Kat Dennings with Nick Zano on her arm. She didn’t sign much to my disappointment but she did look amazing.

Next to arrive was Cobie Smulders but her arrival was kinda put on the back burner cuz security was getting super tight and it was rhen I knew that Robert Downey Jr was on his way to the red carpet. But first here’s a pic of Cobie.

Looking out the window at 8am on Wednesday April 24th was like deja vu. The weather was exactly like it had been for The Avengers premiere the previous year. Cloudy, dreary, and chilly. Oh well. It was premiere day for Marvel’s Iron Man 3. Nothing short of an earthquake would prevent me from going to see Robert Downey Jr, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth and company. Considering my tickets fell through for the premiere and afterparty(no biggie since there’s Thor 2 in October/November to look forward to) I decided to try the “fan” thing: stand at the barricades and take in the excitement with the rest of the fans.

So 11am rolls around and I’ve arrived on Hollywood Blvd which was closed down for the premiere. I found a spot that was unoccupied only to have myself verbally attacked by these 2 so called fans who claimed that the spot I was in belonged to them because they had been there since 3am. Okayyy…sure…Noone was there except chairs and the spot I was standing in left plenty of room for whomever they belonged to. But okay, whatever. So after the altercation(and being called some nasty names)with these people(who turned out to be lowly autograph hounds..and people wonder why I despise these assholes), I left the area and found a better one towards the middle of the red carpet. To be honest, I’m glad I moved because most of the celebs skipped the area I had originally picked out altogether. The whole day ended up being misty, chilly and dreary. The sun didn’t pop out at all. But it’s all good cuz  Iron Man was coming to town. lol People started showing up at about 5:30 with the first arrival being Mario Lopez(who incidentally didn’t stay to watch the film. He walked the red carpet, got his photo taken, and then left).

Next to arrive was Joss Whedon and though he didn’t sign for the fans, he did acknowledge everyone who’d gathered to watch the arrivals.

Excitement was building at this point and I couldn’t see much from my vantage point. I bascially had to rely on the fans at the far end of the barricade who had a clear view of the arrivals. Anytime they screamed, I knew someone had shown up. lol Next up was legendary, Stan Lee who signed a couple autographs and then headed down the red carpet for interviews and photos with the press.

The next arrival was Hayley Atwell who is now starring in the film Close Enough with Tom Hiddleston playing Gerda Taro. Beautiful lady and though she didn’t sign for the fans, she made up for it much later during the afterparty.

Next to arrive was William Sadler. People will remember him as the Grim Reaper from Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey and Die Hard 2. In Iron Man 3 he plays President Ellis. He was kind enough to come over to the barriers and sign autographs for a few minutes.
